Longevity
In the Western world most of us have comfortable lives; we have enough to eat, we are warm and we have what we need to survive from day to day.
Yet many of us with elderly relatives will know the pain and sadness that accompanies an old age accompanied by chronic illness, from the discomfort of severe arthritis to complications associated with type 2 diabetes, dementia and cancer.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Illness is not an inevitable outcome of ageing and there is so much we can do to help prevent chronic disease and live long, happy and healthy lives.
Lifestyle is key to an active and vibrant old age and the earlier we introduce healthy habits the better. Research has shown that there are changes in the brain up to 30 years before dementia is diagnosed and therefore it is never too early to think about prevention. Our older selves will thank us for it.
Having said that, change is possible at any age and it is never too late to start implementing healthy habits.
In our busy lives we often fail to prioritise our health and find it hard to take positive steps on our own. That is why we have introduced the Healthy Londoner Prevention Programme to work with you either on a one to one basis or in a group setting.
We work on the principles of the ‘Blue Zones’ and the lifestyles of those who live in the 5 areas of the world where they have the highest number of centenarians and where people live happy, healthy lives well into old age.
